Memorial at Ružinov

On Saturday, Minister of Defence Martin Glváč commemorated the 24th anniversary of the Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day at the Ružinov cemetery in Bratislava. The commemoration ceremony was held at the Memorial of Executed and Martyred Political Prisoners of Communism. „It is important to commemorate this day, because next generations should know what happened back then; so that we can appreciate what we have today, and do not take it for granted,“ said Glváč. President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič attended the ceremony as well. „We cannot forget the hardship in the absence of freedom, and we have a duty to remember the victims,“ he stated. The ceremony was organised at the cemetery in Ružinov by the Political Prisoners – Union of Anti-Communist Resistance.
