On Saturday, SVK Minister of Defence Martin Glváč attended a memorial ceremony dedicated to the memory of General M. R. Štefánik at Bradlo. “M. R. Štefánik had done a lot not only for Slovakia but also for the international community. Therefore, it is our duty to remember him because his political and diplomatic career is a model worth following even today,” said SVK Minister of Defence Martin Glváč.
In his statement, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Slovak Armed Forces Ivan Gašparovič said: “He exerted all his strength to see his ideas materialize. Towards this end, he fought on many fronts – scientific, diplomatic and military.” According to the President, Slovak society is obligated to promote Štefánik's message. “Today his original ideas are ripening in our sovereign, democratic and law-abiding country – the Slovak Republic,” said the President.
