Paying tribute to SNU pilots

SVK Minister of Defence Martin Glváč granted, posthumously, the 70th Anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNU) and the End of WWII Commemorative Medals to Arsenije Boljević (1904 – 1953) and Sava Poljanec (1907 – 1966), former Yugoslavian Royal Air Force pilots, who had fought in the SNU. On the Defence Minister’s behalf, the medals were handed over to the pilots’ relatives by Brig Miroslav Korba, SVK Air Force Commander, during a remembrance ceremony at the gates of the Combined Wing, Sliač AFB. Brig Korba and H.E. Mr Šani Dermaku, Ambassador of Serbia, then unveiled a memorial plaque devoted to the memory of both pilots at the entrance to the AFB.
