At the Slovak National Theatre, the SVK Minister of Defence Martin Glváč ceremonially introduced six contemporary veterans into the Hall of Fame. For their extraordinary deeds, that had been recorded in the chronicles of the SVK MoD’s modern history, entered the Hall of Fame Lt Col Peter Michlík, MSgt Martin Boháčik, and posthumously SFC Patrik Fraštia, SSgt Daniel Kavuliak, Capt Edmund Makovník, and MSgt Ľubomír Igaz.
“The Hall of Fame was entered by four servicemen, who had sacrificed the most valuable thing they had – their life. Nowadays, it is difficult to be a soldier. It requires discipline, prudence, consistency, willingness to co-operate, as well as respect to other cultures when on missions abroad,” briefed Minister of Defence Martin Glváč.
During more than twenty years, in thirty missions all over the world served almost 17 thousand Slovak servicemen and women. Meetings of the Defence Minister with contemporary war veterans have been taking place since 2010, as a sign of attention, thanks, respect to their work and commitment during their performance in the international crisis management operations. “Especially thanks to them and their performance in missions, Slovakia and Slovak soldiers are nowadays a synonym for reliability, professionalism and confidence. We are justly proud of them,” added the Head of SVK MoD.
The Defence Minister announced another edition of the annual “Military Deed of the Year” survey as well. Among others, the ceremonial meeting saw Miloš Koterec, SVK Ministry of Defence State Secretary, together with Lt Gen Milan Maxim, Chief of the SVK General Staff.
