Preparations for UNFICYP

Maj Gen Pavel Macko, 2nd Vice Chief of the SVK General Staff, carried out an inspection of a tactical exercise and the SVK UNFICYP unit’s national certification exercise. “Apart from some trivialities, I can express my satisfaction,” he said. Preparations for a new force rotation had reached their peak at the Kolíňanský vrch garrison training ground, where 104 SVK Armed Forces soldiers (of whom 5 were women) had been undergoing training. The certification exercise tested the soldiers’ readiness to perform operational tasks via the standard operational procedures applicable to UNFICYP. The SVK Armed Forces personnel, together with the Brits and the Argentinians, are one of the lead nations.
