Martin Glváč: For most servicemen, military is a lifelong career

In the academic year 2015/2016, the Armed Forces Academy of Gen M. R. Štefánik, based in Liptovský Mikuláš, will open four programs of study in present/daily form for high school graduates and will enrol 85 new students.

It is our interest to have those students enrolled to the preparatory service who view a service in the armed forces as a mission, not only as a temporary job. This is what every candidate should be aware of,” stated SVK Minister of Defence Martin Glváč.

The applicants, who were admitted to the bachelor degree studies, become professional soldiers in a preparatory state service as from the day they start their studies. The selection criteria are more demanding than at the other universities or academies. They must be fit, healthy and capable to serve as professional soldiers,” highlighted Rector of AFA Brig Gen Boris Ďurkech.

The candidates for the studies at the military academy must pass the knowledge test from mathematics and English. Eligible shall be those applicants who have successfully passed a school-leaving exam, will have reached the age of 18 by 2 August at latest, and whose maximum age limit will not be over 25 in 2015.

The high school students, who intend to study at the Armed Forces Academy, shall file their application no later than on 28 February 2015.
