Disposal of cluster munitions

The Slovak Republic will accede to the international Convention on Cluster Munitions. It follows from the proposal submitted on Wednesday at the negotiation of the Security Council of the Slovak Republic and the government. The proposal is yet to be endorsed by the SVK National Council. “We continue in the process that we advised last year and we meet the obligations we have declared,” stated SVK Minister of Defence Martin Glváč. As he further said, currently our armed forces’ stockpiles of cluster munitions contain approximately 800 pcs of such munitions and its disposal is rather costly.
