A memory still painful

Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš paid his respects at the memorial dedicated to the victims of the tragic accident at the Military Repair Company Nováky. It was exactly 10 years ago that 8 employees died tragically and dozens were injured in an explosion.

In his speech, the Head of the MOD reminded that sorrow, pain and helplessness are always stronger if such a loss comes unexpectedly. “Coming to terms with the loss of a close person is among the greatest challenges in the life of everyone of us. I am having a difficult time finding the right words and an answer to the question Why?, which one can easily read from your faces,” he said. He further noted that although he is not in a position to judge the actions of the criminal investigation bodies, as a human being he can understand that what weighs down heavily on the bereaved families is that the person responsible for the deaths of their close ones has not been named to date.

The tragedy at the Military Repair Company Nováky occurred on 2 March 2007. Today, the company is subject to a long-term lease agreement.
