The race walk champion of the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Matej Tóth can rejoin professional race walk competitions. The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has upheld the conclusions of the inquiry by the Disciplinary Commission of the Slovak Athletics Federation (SAZ) and thus confirmed that the sportsman of the Military Sports Centre Dukla Banská Bystrica is not guilty of doping and has not violated strict anti-doping rules.
Reflecting on the news, SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš commented: “From the very beginning we all from across Defence have always been behind Matej and we have always maintained his innocence. Thanks to the news, I think this Christmas will be very special not only for Matej, but also for our Dukla and Slovakia. Maťo is our Olympic winner, and I would say this makes him a “two time winner”, because he has been through a fight tougher than the one he put up at the Rio Olympics.”
