Veronika Velez-Zuzulová and her father Timotej Zuzula are to stay on with the Military Sports Centre Dukla Banská Bystrica. In addition to taking on her maternity duties, Veronika will cooperate with the Centre as a coordinator for selecting ski talents. Her father, a coach, will continue to work at the centre, and so will Veronikaʼs physiotherapist, PFC Jakub Hudák.
SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said:“I highly respect Veronikaʼs decision. We need her experience of an active competitor for better training of our skiers. They will have the opportunity to work with “the best of the best.” He today thanked Veronika, her father Timotej, and physiotherapist PFC Jakub Hudák for their long-time representation of the Centre and Slovakia as a whole.
Veronika Velez-Zuzulová said: “I highly appreciate that the Dukla Centre has always stood by my side, and not only in good times.” She confirmed that her father and she want to cooperate with the Centre on developing the National Ski Centre.
At the meeting, General Secretary of the MOD’s Service Office Ján Hoľko stressed that the intention is to put in place a systemic solution to the Military Sports Centre. “So that successful sportsmen and women are not the outcome of their parents’hard work and sacrifice, but rather the outcome of a functional system, one that is up and running well,” he said.
Minister Gajdoš and Secretary Hoľko today gave Veronika Velez-Zuzulová their personal present, i. e. a work of art with her own appearance, and a spa holiday at an MOD-run facility.
