A total of 23 Bambi buckets and over 40,000 litres of water were used by airmen of Helicopter Wing (HW) Prešov to contain a forest fire in the location called Kežmarské Žlaby in the High Tatra Mountains. Following a request from the Firefighting and Rescue Corps for firefighting assistance, the SVK Armed Forces deployed an Mi-17 helicopter to help put out the fire and provided a tanker as a refuelling asset. The helicopter crew assisted firefighting efforts for over three hours both on Thursday and Friday (3 and 4 May), whilst using 13 Bumbi buckets on the first day and 10 Bambi buckets on the second day. SVK servicemen and women are ready to help Slovak citizens as part of domestic crisis management operations on a 24/7 basis.
