USA appreciates Slovakiaʼs investment in defence

State Secretary of the SVK MOD Róbert Ondrejcsák met with Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Aaron Wess Mitchell at MOD Main Building on 24 May.
During the meeting, R. Ondrejcsák gave his assessment of the historically excellent cooperation between Slovakia and the USA as a strategic partner and appreciated the US role in the field of security and defence across Central and Eastern Europe.
US Assistant Secretary Mitchell praised Slovakiaʼs approach to the Defence Investment Pledge as well as its clear plan to achieve NATO’s 2 per cent benchmark on defence until 2024. He referred to Slovakia as an “excellent Ally”, one whose example he uses when speaking with other Allies about the need to boost defence spending.
The partners addressed the Defence Cooperation Agreement between the Slovak Republic and the United States of America, disinformation campaign and harmful propaganda, the modernization of the SVK Air Force, regional collaboration, NATO cooperation, and NATO enlargement.
