Minister Gajdoš meeting with Brazilian Ambassador Luis A. B. Carneiro

SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš held bilateral talks with the Ambassador of Brazil to Slovakia, HE Mr Luis Antonio Balduín Carneiro, at MOD Main Building on 1 June. Bilateral cooperation, especially in the defence industry, was high on the agenda.
Speaking about ways to explore potential areas of cooperation in the defence industry, SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “While Brazil has a stable place in the global armaments market, Slovakia, too, has something to offer. Therefore, I believe we can work together to strengthen our cooperation in this field, especially now when we are modernizing our armed forces substantially.” And in doing so, he emphasised that one of the SVK MODʼs priorities is to support the domestic defence industrial base.
During the meeting, Minister Gajdoš informed Ambassador Carneiro about the Strategic Documents drafted by the SVK MOD. He then briefly outlined the current modernization programmes of the SVK military. In this connection, Ambassador Carneiro passed on an invitation to the SVK Defence Minister to pay an official visit to Brazil on the occasion of the Rio International Defence Exhibition (RIDEX) 2018, to be held later this month in Rio de Janeiro.
Head of the MOD expressed his appreciation for the participation of 4 Brazilian companies in the recently held International Defence Exhibition Bratislava (IDEB) 2018 and for a display of Brazilian aircraft at the Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF).
