Slovakia backs Georgia’s accession to NATO

State Secretary of the SVK MOD Róbert Ondrejcsák welcomed the Ambassador of Georgia, His Excellency Mr Revaz Gachechiladze, tothe MOD for talks on preparations for the upcoming NATO Summit in Brussels, Georgiaʼs prospective membership in NATO, and NATO-Georgia cooperation.
R. Ondrejcsák confirmed that the Slovak Republic has been a long-time advocate of NATO’s open door policy and that NATO enlargement did not stop with Montenegroʼs entry into the Alliance. Equally important, the Slovak Republic backs the efforts of Georgia and other countries to integrate into NATO.
The partners agreed that the upcoming NATO Summit will send a strong message of partnership with Georgia. Today NATO-Georgia cooperation is very intense. Slovakia is contributing to this effort through the presence of a defence education expert in Tbilisi.
