The new 3D RL medium, short and very short range radars will be procured by the SVK MOD through a Government-to-Government (G2G) sale. This proposed solution has today been approved by the Slovak Security Council and the Cabinet. The G2G sale is the most transparent procurement method which rules out any corruption.
Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “We will purchase a total of 17 pieces of 3D radars just as requested and defined by the Slovak Armed Forces. In this regard, we will invite all governments to enter into negotiations with us so that we can find the most advantageous solution and submit it to the Cabinet for approval no later than the end of June 2019.” He stressed that the protection of Slovak airspace is delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In the years 2018 – 2025, the MOD plans to procure a total of 17 pieces of 3D RL radars – medium range (6 pcs), short range (5 pcs), and very short range (6 pcs) for an estimated framework price of 155,090,000 euros, VAT included.
