Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš today (18 July 2018) received Lt Gen Manfred Hofmann, Commander of the NATO Multinational Corps North-East (MNC NE) Szczecin, as Lt Gen Hofmannʼs tenure as COM MNC NE is coming to an end. During their meeting, they underscored the importance of the NATO Force Integration Unit Slovakia having reached Full Capability (FC) and the role the NFIU SVK has been playing in strengthening the security and collective defence of NATO Member States. Also discussed was the new adapted NATO Command Structure, including Slovakiaʼs participation in it.
SVK Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “The NFIU SVK reached Full Capability last year and has ever since performed a set of tasks related to coordinating movements of Allied forces in the region.” He further informed Lt Gen Hofmann about the SVK militaryʼs modernization programmes that the MOD has been delivering whilst aligned to the Long-Term Defence Development Plan with an Outlook to 2030. The Minister of Defence and the Commander of the NATO Multinational Corps North-East agreed that modernization must go ʽhand in handʼ with high quality training.
