The Slovak Armed Forces are now readying themselves for this yearʼs largest international exercise – Slovak Shield 2018 – which will bring together almost 1,500 Slovak soldiers and troops from abroad. The aim of the exercise is to train military personnel in response to current security threats. The exercise is one of the most significant military exercises in the environment of Central Europe. In addition to SVK personnel, exercise participants will consist of soldiers of the Visegrad Group (V4) armed forces, members of the Indiana National Guard (INNG), and personnel from the United States Army Europe (USAREUR). This is the fourth time Slovakia will host its Allied partners for the exercise.
