Members of the Engineer Battalion Sereď and members of the Czech Armyʼs 15th Engineer Regiment Bechyňe will practise their basic capabilities in response to domestic crisis management situations, especially on occurrence of natural disasters. Ex River 2018 will run on 9-14 September 2018 in Kráľová nad Váhom.
Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “As part of Ex River 2018 our troops along with their Czech colleagues will get an opportunity to test their abilities and remove any deficiencies in order to be more efficient in delivering emergency response and assisting our citizens on occurrence of emergencies such as floods or other natural catastrophes.”
Chief of Defence Lt Gen Daniel Zmeko said: “Water crossing capabilities are not only invaluable in the conduct of combat operations, but they are also employable in the clean-up operations in the aftermath of natural disasters. I am pleased that we can share this training activity with our partner from the Czech Republic.”
During the training activity, SVK and CZE engineers will work on their basic skills in clean-up operations in the aftermath of floods and in setting up and maintaining river crossings with the use of pontoon bridges.
