Visitors to Bratislavaʼs Incheba EXPO Arena will have an opportunity to see new trends and technologies in the field of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)/Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal (IEDD), both on static display and as part of live demonstrations, next week on 19-20 September. The NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2018 is the fifth such conference and exhibition the NATO EOD COE Trenčín has organised in order to showcase the latest EOD/IEDD technologies and trends.
On Slovakiaʼs EOD capabilities, Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “Also thanks to the tasks our Centre of Excellence performs, we can confirm that the Slovak Republic has its irreplaceable place in this field and that we have a lot to offer to our Allies and partners. A clear example of this is our activity in Ukraine. Slovakia is the Lead Nation for the NATO EOD/C-IED Trust Fund for Ukraine.” He further noted that the Conference and Exhibition are a good opportunity to promote the NATO EOD COE Trenčín in the public. “For the military community, the event creates a platform for discussing and exchanging information. Given the fact that the development of this field is so dynamic, this is very important,” he added.

The Slovak Republic has been the NATO Lead Nation for EOD since 2004. The main theme of this yearʼs exhibition is ‘Multidisciplinary Approach to EOD’. The NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials is organised by the NATO EOD COE Trenčín in collaboration with the COEs in Spain and Germany under the aegis of the NATO Emerging Security Challenges Division (ESCD).
