Ex CORONAT MASK 2018: SVK CBRN specialists test their capabilities

These days members of the CBRN Battalion Rožňava are testing their capabilities on Tisá Training Area in the Czech Republic as part of Ex CORONAT MASK 2018. The Slovak portion of the exercise includes hands-on training at the CBRN Training and Testing Centre Zemianske Kostoľany.
The aim of CORONAT MASK 2018 is to step up cooperation of Allied CBRN units and get ready for realistic situations reflecting new security challenges. As part of the exercise, Sampling and Identification of Chemical Agents (SICA) teams from CZE, DEU, SVK and ITA are taking samples for further laboratory analysis. Samples are also transported to the specialist CBRN labs at the CBRN TTC Zemianske Kostoľany, to be analysed simultaneously as part of Ex TOXIC VALLEY 2018.
Numbers of participating nations and personnel are 290 CBRN specialists from 15 EU countries, of whom 27 personnel are from the CBRN Bn Rožňava. Also involved are 110 military assets, including 10 SVK Armed Forces assets. As part of the exercise, members of the CBRN Battalion Rožňava are carrying out tasks in the field of CBRN detection, identification and decontamination, as well as providing first aid after exposure to combat toxic chemicals.
