Altogether 100 soldiers took turns cleaning up in the aftermath of the whirlwind that hit the village of Lekárovce last week. Backed by engineering equipment, teams consisting of 10 to 40 soldiers from the 22nd Mechanised Battalion Michalovce helped every day to bring life in the village back to normal.
They carried out temporary repairs, covered damaged roofs with roof foil, removed broken trees, transported saw wood and material, and removed damaged roofs and broken telephone posts. Thus, soldiers once again confirmed that the SVK Armed Forces are here for Slovak citizens even in peacetime and that they are ready to help in any crisis situation.
