Chief of Defence has new Deputy Chiefs of Defence

Chief of Defence Lt Gen Daniel Zmeko has new Deputy Chiefs of Defence as of today. Maj Gen Josef Pokorný, the MODʼs outgoing Director General of the Defence Management, Armed Forces Development, and Defence Planning Department, has assumed the appointment of 1st DCHOD. Brig Gen Miroslav Lorinc, the outgoing Deputy Commander of the SVK Air Force, has taken up the appointment of 2nd DCHOD/COS, succeeding Maj Gen Miroslav Kocian, who will be transferring to a Diplomatic Service appointment.
 
On the new appointments, Chief of Defence Lt Gen Daniel Zmeko said: “I trust we have found the right people in the right places who will help me run the Armed Forces.”
 
The General Staff reshuffle will affect the MOD leadership too. Brig Gen Slavomír Staviarsky has taken over as Director General of the Defence Management, Armed Forces Development, and Defence Planning Department. He is succeeded as Chief of Staff for Strategic Planning by Col Peter Babiar. Col Róbert Kleštinec is to assume the responsibilities of Deputy Commander of the Slovak Air Force.
