Minister Gajdoš unveils Memorial Plaque dedicated to WW1 and WW2 victims in Veľké Kozmálovce

Today (4 November) Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš unveiled a Memorial Plaque dedicated to WW1 and WW2 victims in the village of Veľké Kozmálovce. As the 100th anniversary of the end of WW1 approaches, he also paid tribute to the memory of all those who laid down their lives while fighting for liberation and peace.

At this time of reflection, Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “The horrors WW1 brought with itself act as a reminder also for us that peace and freedom are values that have never been, nor are they today, taken for granted. And many paid the ultimate price for them. Therefore, I welcome every act of remembrance as a proof that we never forget the devastating consequences of both world wars and that we are not careless about their victims.”

As of today, the Memorial Plaque forms part of the WW2 Victims Memorial in the village of Veľké Kozmálovce, which was unveiled in a Slovak National Uprising anniversary ceremony in 1965.
