Gen Maurice Pellé remembered

A remembrance ceremony for Gen Maurice Pellé was held at the Batignolles Cemetery in Paris on 15 March 2019. Out of his rich career, his merits in serving as Chief of the Czechoslovak Army Main Staff were recalled in a speech in front of the gathered guests.
In attendance at the ceremony were descendants of Gen Maurice Pellé and Prof Faucher, another French general who served as Commander of the Military Mission to the Czechoslovak Republic, as were representatives of the SVK and CZE Embassies. On behalf of the SVK Armed Forces, Col Peter Knánik, Slovak Defence Attaché to the French Republic, laid a bouquet of flowers at Gen Pellé’s final resting place.
The personality of Gen Pellé is among the five most important French generals who participated in the formation of the Czechoslovak Army following the foundation of Czechoslovakia. An exhibition dedicated to the memory of the generals will be opened at the Eastern Slovakia Museum in Košice in May 2019.
