SVK soldiers should continue to perform tasks as part of NATO’s enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) in the Baltics. The proposal for up to a 152-strong contribution has been approved today (24 April 2019) by the SVK Security Council and Government. The continuity of the mandate must still be presented for decision by the SVK Parliament.
Slovakia’s contribution to NATO’s eFP in the Baltics attests to our active membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and demonstrates our readiness to participate in NATO’s collective defence activities.
SVK personnel are currently deployed with the Canadian-led Battlegroup to Ādaži Training Area in Latvia. The SVK deployment is comprised of a Mechanised Company, a C2 element, a Repairs and Operation Platoon, and a Military Police team.
