NATO STO AVT Panel meets at Armed Forces Academy

The General M. R. Štefánik Armed Forces Academy (AOS) Liptovský Mikuláš is hosting the 43rd AVT Panel Business Meeting Week (NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO) Applied Vehicle Technology (AVT) Panel) from 20-24 May 2019.
 
The AVT Panel brings together over 1,000 scientists, engineers and technical experts and seeks greater efficiency, reliability, affordability, performance and safety of vehicles in all environments – land, sea, air and space – through advancement of progressive technologies. It brings out the best of the expertise of specialists in the fields of mechanical systems, structures and materials; propulsion and power systems; stability and control of hydromechanical systems.

The AVT Panel meets bi-annually in different countries of the world. 474 participants from NATO and Partner countries enrolled for the 43rd AVT Panel Business Meeting Week. The AVT Panel consists of 30 working groups and 6 committees. The AVT-322 Specialists’ Meeting on Combustion Products, Exposure and Related Risks, focused on explosives and high explosives and related risks, is organised as a side event.
 
This is the first time the Slovak Republic has hosted the meeting of the NATO STO AVT Panel to such extent. The permanent representative of the Slovak Republic to the STO AVT Panel is Assoc Prof Mariana Kuffová, MSc Eng, PhD, of the Armed Forces Academy.
 
The 43rd AVT Panel Business Meeting Week was opened by AVT Panel Chairman Maj Dr David Lecompte (BEL). In attendance at the opening ceremony were Director General of the Modernization Department (SVK MOD)/National Armaments Director Col Vladimír Kavický, MSc Eng, PhD, and Commandant of the Armed Forces Academy Assoc Prof Jozef Puttera, MSc Eng, PhD, as a representative of the host organization.
 
The 44th AVT Panel Business Meeting Week will be held in October 2019 in Norway.
