Over 600 soldiers and military policemen provided security for 2019 Ice Hockey World Championship

Soldiers and military policemen provided security at the venues of the 2019 Ice Hockey Championship in Slovakia. Altogether, over 640 military personnel were deployed to Bratislava and Košice. They went on mixed patrols along with members of the SVK Police Corps to maintain security and public order.
On the joint provision of security at the event, Minister of Defence Peter Gajdoš said: “Even there it was demonstrated how inevitable close cooperation between the security components is. Of course, we are ready to cooperate together in the future whenever required.”
Over the course of the Ice Hockey World Championship, members of the Engineer Battalion Sereď, 13th Mechanised Battalion Levice, and ISTAR Battalion performed the tasks of providing security, public order, protection of life, health and property, and the fight against terrorism and organised crime. But on standby were also members of the Helicopter Wing Prešov with their air assets, personnel of the 5th Special Forces Regiment Žilina, and specialist teams of the CBRN Defence Battalion Rožňava.
