Joint training on chemical weapons for members of Ukraine’s Financial Service and State Border Protection Guard is starting today (29 May 2019) at the CBRN Training and Testing Centre Zemianske Kostoľany under the SVK OSCE Chairmanship, with the participation of OSCE representatives and under the supervision of the Slovak Armed Forces. The training is also joined by active reservists and members of the Customs Office, SVK Ministry of Interior.
Through this practical activity, the SVK MOD is seeking to fulfil the priorities that the Slovak Republic has set for the SVK OSCE Chairmanship. “The interest in training at Zemianske Kostoľany proves that the Centre has a high level of training capabilities, which, in enforcing the ban on chemical weapons, is also valuable for individual international CBRN organizations and experts.”
The main goal of the training is to strengthen the skills to detect, identify and handle toxic chemical substances, with the main focus on strengthening the measures to control their cross-border movement. The training is running from 29-30 May 2019 at the CBRN facility in Zemianske Kostoľany.
