CAPABLE LOGISTICIAN 2019

Exercise CAPABLE LOGISTICIAN 2019 (CL19), NATO’s largest international logistics exercise, began with an exercise opening ceremony on 3 June 2019 on Drawsko – Pomorskie Training Area, Poland. Taking part in the exercise are 3,421 troops from 31 NATO and Partner countries and 11 organizations. Slovakia is represented by 41 logisticians who are assigned to the Multinational Integrated Logistic Units (MILUs) to perform logistic tasks.

In his exercise opening speech, Director of the Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre (MLCC) Prague Col Daniel Zlatník said: “The exercise facilitates deepening of standardization, interoperability and activities among staffs. The exercise is unique in terms of its type and extent and is focused on practising logistic capabilities. It tests the logistic control processes, information flows, and procedures. Besides training, it also provides very valuable information and expertise. Thanks to this type of multinational cooperation, it will be possible to achieve greater effectiveness on international crisis management operations.”

On behalf of the Host Nation, the exercising troops were welcomed by Col Witold Bartoszek, of the Logistics Inspectorate of the Polish Armed Forces. Given the fact that supporting and sustaining main forces in the theatre of operations requires a wide spectrum of logistic capabilities and is financially demanding, international cooperation on logistics is a necessity.
