The Training and Canine Branch, Military Police Department Vlkanová-Hronsek, organised a debut course for the Military Police Active Reserves in the second and third week of June 2019. The course was attended by 9 active reservists, of whom 4 were former military policemen, one was a former member of the SVK Police Corps, and the rest of them were ex-servicemen, either earlier Service leavers or more recent Service leavers.
Maj (in reserve) Miloš Soliar is predestined to be the commander of the MP Active Reserves Unit. In the past, he was an active duty officer in the Slovak Armed Forces for 21 years, 14 years of which he worked as a military policeman, including in the Military Police Department Topoľčany and the Military Police Directorate Trenčín. Even today he is still employed by the military, he works in the EOD COE Trenčín.
Major in reserve Miloš Soliar said: “I am glad that there is a possibility to perform the tasks of the Military Police Active Reserves in the years to come, if needed. I’ve refreshed and reviewed my knowledge and I’ve also had to study the more recently adopted laws affecting the work of military policemen.”
Unlike him, SSgt in reserve Ján Šperka had to start from scratch in this field, because he spent his entire military career serving with Martin-based units and facilities. “Our colleagues who have the experience of serving with the SVK Military Police and our instructors have helped us a lot to deal with all issues. What was mainly interesting for me was that we rehearsed drills to detain individuals,” said SSgt in reserve Ján Šperka.
During the training, active reservists familiarise themselves with MP regulations (Military Police Act, Penal Act, Criminal Procedure Code, Offence Law, Traffic and Riot Police Code of Practice, etc.), learn how to use equipment, weapons and vehicles, and work on marksmanship theory and practice.
