On 22 August 2019, the SVK MOD’s Human Resources Department has signed an Agreement for Delivery of Practical Training to Students in 2019/2020 Academic Year with the Director of the Exnárova Private Secondary School in Bratislava, Mr Milan Gibej, and the Director of the Aviation Technical Secondary School in Trenčín, Mr Stanislav Malec. For the MOD, this marks the beginning of the implementation phase for the project to find new military specialists while they are still studying at secondary technical schools.
Because young people often lack practical skills, the SVK MOD seeks to link theory and practice through enabling the students specialising in the roles as Aircraft Mechanics Technician and Aircraft Avionics Technician to apply their theoretical knowledge at the Transport Wing Kuchyňa and the Tactical Wing Sliač throughout the school year.
The aim of this cooperation is to present, promote and popularise the military profession among the secondary technical school goers who, thanks to their specialisations, are employable in the SVK Armed Forces. The students will undertake practical training at military installations, while having access to unique technologies that may not be available to ordinary employers on the job market.
We believe that the practical training programme will be of benefit both to students of secondary technical schools insofar as they will develop practical skills as well as to the Slovak Armed Forces in the sense that they will gain a valuable recruitment source.
