Minister Gajdoš holds talks with new U.S. Ambassador B. A. Brink

Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš met the new U.S. Ambassador to Slovakia, Her Excellency Mrs Bridget A. Brink, for talks at the Ministry of Defence today (16 September 2019). The meeting was dominated by topics of bilateral defence cooperation, modernization, and SVK service members’ participation in international crisis management missions and operations.

Head of the SVK MOD informed the U.S. Ambassador about the modernization programmes across the Slovak Armed Forces. He praised the defence cooperation between the United States and Slovakia thus far. “Thanks to this cooperation, we have delivered state-of-the-art UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to our service personnel and we believe we will also bring the deliveries of F-16 aircraft to a successful end,” said Minister Gajdoš.

During their first bilateral meeting, Minister Gajdoš and Ambassador Brink reviewed the outcomes of the U.S.-SVK cooperation on military education and training. In this respect, Minister Gajdoš commended the exemplary collaboration between the Slovak Armed Forces and the Indiana National Guard as well as the attendance of U.S. and SVK troops at joint international exercises, namely Ex TOXIC LANCE, Ex LOGEX and Ex TOXIC VALLEY. Also discussed at the meeting were the MOD’s uplifts in defence spending and delivery of international commitments.
