Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš and his counterparts from the Visegrad Group visited Leoš Janáček Airport Ostrava near the municipality of Mošnov to take part in the official opening ceremony of NATO Days in Ostrava today (21 September 2019). On this occasion, Minister Gajdoš hailed the high standards of the event’s organization and the quality of V4 relations.
In his address, Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš said: “The V4 countries’ common region provides us all with a high level of security and prosperity. To a great extent, this is thanks to our service members and their capabilities and platforms which will be on display here today.” He added that the Slovak Air Force has been traditionally present at this high visibility event over the years and, more recently, it has displayed its air platforms there, including a MiG-29 fighter jet, a UH-60M Black Hawk multi-role helicopter, and a Spartan C-27J airlifter.
NATO Days in Ostrava is combined with Czech Air Force Days. This year Romania took on the role of Special Partner of NATO Days in Ostrava & Czech Air Force Days. The show saw over 270 air and land assets from 17 countries worldwide on display with a visitor attendance of approx. 200,000 people, which makes it one of the most visited events in the Czech Republic.
