HOREZZA, an MOD-owned joint stock company, will reopen its Nová Polianka facility. Its reconstruction and redesign as a climatic spa will start already this year. The facility is expected to reopen in 2020 and will cater for the needs of the Armed Forces and the public.
Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš said: “We have never identified ourselves with the closure of this facility. For this reason, I highly appreciate the solution of HOREZZA managers, who, given the fact that the building is a national cultural heritage site, have secured all the exacting permissions and will go ahead with the reconstruction of this commercially lucrative tourist facility in the High Tatras.” He further noted that the reopening of this highly specialised facility will reinforce the growing trend of tourist visits to the High Tatras.
The director general of HOREZZA, Miloslava Slížová said: “Our intent is to redesign the facility so as to serve as a climatic spa. Once it reopens, HOREZZA will run almost 10 per cent of all spa facilities in Slovakia. A climatic spa offers favourable conditions for treating a number of diseases related to the respiratory system.”
The Nová Polianka facility will have 141 beds. Approx. 50 new jobs will be created to support the employment levels in the region.
