P. Gajdoš: Slovakia remains active contributor to NATO missions and operations

Slovakia is and remains an active contributor to NATO missions and operations. This message was confirmed by Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš at the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting today (24 October 2019) in Brussels.

Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš said: “Missions and operations abroad are an inevitable part of collective defence and we are fully aware of it. Also for this reason, our military professionals are serving with the non-combat NATO Mission Iraq and the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan, where they are undertaking tasks in the field of training to the benefit of the Afghan National Security Forces.”

Defence Ministers also discussed NATO’s collective resilience against hybrid threats and new technologies. Still today, in the presence of Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Maria Schmid and partners from Finland and Sweden, they will address the options for deepening the cooperation between the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union.
