Skier Petra Vlhová of DUKLA Banská Bystrica Military Sports Centre selected as 2019 Best Sportsperson of the Year

Petra Vlhová, member of the DUKLA Banská Bystrica Military Sports Centre (VŠC DUKLA), has been selected as 2019 Sportsperson of the Year in Slovakia’s most prestigious sports awards organised by the Slovak Sports Journalists’ Association. Biathlete Anastasiya Kuzmina placed 2nd and biathlete Paulína Fialková has also made it among this year’s 10 best sportsmen and women with her 7th place.
The SVK Slalom Canoe Team, made up of Michal Martikán, Alexander Slafkovský (both members of VŠC DUKLA) and Matej Beňuš, became the most successful sportsmen of 2019 in the teams category. While last year Anastasiya Kuzmina, member of VŠC DUKLA, received the 2018 Sportsperson of the Year Award, this year she along with Paulína and Ivona Fialková, and Terézia Poliaková (SVK Women’s Biathlon Relay Team) claimed the trophy in the teams category. Last year slalom canoeists Michal Martikán, Alexander Slafkovský and Matej Beňuš placed 3rd in the teams category.
