The SVK Armed Forces have today lent the Trnava Faculty Hospital a shipping container turned dental surgery, which forms a containerized element of the military field hospital, operated by the SNP Central Military Hospital in Ružomberok. This is a new, fully equipped dental surgery office to serve the public, starting from Monday 6 April. The site has today been visited by Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: "This element of the field hospital has been set aside for citizens of the Trnava region who may have dental complications, however, it is not advisable for them to see their dentist due to the current measures in place." He added that civilian dentists will provide dental care there. In this connection, he offered his recognition and thanks to all healthcare professionals, not only those in the Trnava hospital, who are putting in a lot of outstanding and invaluable work at times like these.
Head of the MOD emphasised: "In this situation, we are trying to help and provide as many Armed Forces personnel and assets as possible in support of the fight against the spread of coronavirus and ensure the safety of our citizens." The field hospital container was transported by soldiers from the Logistics Battalion Hlohovec, he added.
Meanwhile, several hundreds of soldiers have been deployed as part of the response to stem the spread of COVID-19. As well as being present at border crossings and hospitals, as early as this Friday the SVK military began on-site COVID-19 testing in the Roma community in Jarovnice and are continuing to conduct tests across other Roma settlements today. To combat coronavirus, both land and air assets have been used for the distribution of medical material, the delivery of swab samples, and the transportation of persons.
Elsewhere, Army sentries are monitoring the quarantine locations where repatriated SVK nationals are self-isolating at the accommodation facilities, run by MOD-owned Horezza JSC, in Piešťany, Smrekovica and Tatranské Zruby and so are the service accommodation at the Armed Forces Academy (AOS) in Liptovský Mikuláš and at the Training Centre Lešť.
