Minister Naď: Adequate support to domestic defence industry can boost economic growth in Slovakia's regions

By ensuring adequate support to the domestic defence industry, the MOD can boost employment and economic growth in Slovakia's regions, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said today on his visit to ZVS Holding, a Snina-based armaments producer where the Ministry of Defence is a 50 per cent stakeholder. On his away day today, he also paid a visit to Kamenica nad Cirochou Training Area (TA) and met with Mayor of Snina Daniela Galandová.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Today, once again I had an opportunity to meet representatives of an armaments producer to discuss how the MOD can contribute to its support. Because, even in this field, the aim of the MOD is to find such solutions that will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of defence companies and hence to restarting the economy of the State.”

As part of his tour of military installations in Slovakia, Minister Naď appreciates that over the past few days he has had a unique opportunity to learn more about the specialisations and capabilities of military units. Equally important, he is appreciative that during the meetings he has talked to servicemen and women about what they need and how the MOD can make their work easier.

During his recent away days, the head of the MOD has visited the 5th Special Forces Regiment Žilina, Supply Base II Martin, 11th Mechanised Battalion Martin, Repair Battalion Martin, Training and Mobilisation Manning Base Martin, HQ 2nd Mechanised Brigade Prešov, including ISTAR Battalion, and the Helicopter Wing Prešov.
