Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď along with State Secretary Marian Majer and MOD employees attended a commemorative ceremony at the MOD Reconciliation Memorial to pay tribute to the members of the Armed Forces and Rescue Corps who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Speaking on the occasion, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Never ever will we forget our colleagues – servicemen and servicewomen whose desire to make the world a better place and help others led them to join the Armed Forces. Sadly, we cannot thank them for their service to their country any more. Although they cannot walk along this noble path, their legacy continues to live on in us.” At the same time, Minister Naď paid homage to all the security and rescue corps members who have never made it back to their families.
As a side event, the 11th Ride for Forgotten Heroes was organised by the SVK Generals Club in close cooperation with DESPATCH RIDERS LE MC SLOVAK REPUBLIC, a civic association. As part of the bike ride, dispatch riders visited the Institute of Military History in Piešťany, the village of Bošáca where a show of military historic vehicles, escorted by SVK Police Corps motorcycle riders, took place.
