Defence Minister J. Naď bids farewell to British Ambassador A. Garth

Today (13 July 2020), Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland accredited to the Slovak Republic, His Excellency Mr Andrew Garth. This was a farewell meeting as Ambassador Garth's Diplomatic Service appointment in Slovakia comes to an end. On this occasion, Minister Naď awarded and presented Ambassador Garth with the SVK Minister of Defence Commemorative Medal, 1st Grade.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď thanked the British Ambassador for taking the SVK-UK relationship forward over his nearly six-year tenure as Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Slovak Republic. “His support has contributed to the close and strategic partnership between Slovakia and the United Kingdom. I hope that the cooperation and activities that have been suspended due to COVID-19 will soon be restarted,” said Minister Naď.

During the meeting, the head of the MOD underscored individual areas of bilateral Defence cooperation, including the restart of attendance of a SVK representative on a course offered by the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS). Minister Naď assured Ambassador Garth of his intent to continue delivering NATO commitments and expressed his support for SVK-UK cooperation after Brexit.
