Historically first online live streaming of SIAF will bring highlights from Slovakia’s previous international airshows

As a replacement for the cancelled 10th jubilee edition of the Slovak International Air Fest (SIAF), the largest airshow in Slovakia, members of the public will be treated to an online live stream programme featuring the highlights of Slovakia’s previous international airshows. Aviation fans will be able to watch SIAF 2020’s live stream programme for free, starting from 09.00 on Saturday 29 August 2020.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “The Slovak International Air Fest, as we know it from the past, will not be held this year due to the latest developments on the COVID-19 pandemic. Every year the event has attracted thousands of fans and enthusiasts of civilian and military aircraft alike, while at the same time offering an excellent opportunity to present our Slovak Air Force to the public. I hope this year’s live stream programme, in which the event’s organisers will bring the best of the previous airshows, will live up to the expectations of SIAF enthusiasts.”

Looking further ahead, the Minister added that the MOD is analysing its options for ISAF’s future venues. “As Sliač Air Base will be subject to refurbishment, the Transport Wing Kuchyňa is being offered up for consideration. However, the air base, too, is to be refurbished, so we can discuss this once the refurbishment works are completed,” added Minister Naď.

As Director of the Slovak Aviation Agency Hubert Štoksa said, the public expects the best of the best. “We will go back to 1995 and 1997 when the airshow was known as SIAD and we will remember the Slovak Air Force's legendary White Albatrosses Aerobatic Team. This will be a 9-hour marathon of flying displays, discussions with guests, and background information. There will be a total of 80 video feeds and commentator and guest appearances, covering SIAF 2011 to 2019,” he said.

The live stream programme will be available on: Program. It will feature 36 flying displays selected from the event’s entire history as well as interviews with interesting guests and will be enriched by discussions with experts and a question and answer session. The live studio appearances will be captured by six HD cameras.
