Brig Gen Ivan Pach has been appointed the new Commander of the Slovak Army (Chief of the General Staff (UK)/ Chief of Staff of the Army (US)) today in Trenčín. The new head of the SVK Army was officially introduced in his new role by Chief of Defence Gen Daniel Zmeko, in the presence of the Army Commanders Corps and invited guests, including Mayor of Trenčín Richard Rybníček.
In his remarks, Chief of Defence Gen Daniel Zmeko said: “Numerous challenges lie ahead for the new commander, including, notably, ensuring the continuity of efforts to build the Army in all of its areas, so that the Army as a whole is capable of undertaking missions as set out in law.” Gen Zmeko referred to the post of Commander of the Slovak Army as prestigious, one that requires not just total commitment to duties, but also outstanding personal and professional qualities and extensive experience of Defence.
Brig Gen Ivan Pach said: “My main strength I bring to the role is my trust in people who are the main asset of the Army. A commander′s career depends on the support of both superiors and subordinates. Therefore, I firmly believe that in these unstable times we will face together the challenges that lie ahead of our entire society and see them through to the end with honour.”
Recently, Brig Gen Ivan Pach served as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCOS) at Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum (JFC Brunssum). Prior to his posting to JFC Brunssum, he held the post of Chief of Staff for Strategic Planning, SVK Defence Staff. Brig Gen Ivan Pach began his military career by pursuing his studies at the Military Academy at Vyškov, where he took the Main Battle Tank (MBT) Troop Leaders Course. Subsequently, he held a series of command and staff appointments across the Army and the Defence Staff. During his career, he was assigned to work within NATO structures.
