On the basis of Government-issued guidance, the SVK Armed Forces have put a military plan in place and are conducting Op Joint Wall in response to COVID-19. As of today, 262 Armed Forces personnel are involved in running 14 mobile testing units and supporting 12 regional Public Health Authorities and 16 hospitals across the whole of Slovakia.
By the end of this week, 500 servicemen and women are expected to be deployed to 35 regional Public Health Authority offices, 20 mobile testing units and 38 hospitals.
Based on the requests for assistance from the Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health, our soldiers are tasked to instruct patients before entering hospitals or mobile testing units, help with the screening paperwork, and assist the Public Health Authorities in tracking and tracing COVID-19 contacts. Additionally, if required, our military are ready to join Police Corps and City Police personnel in enforcing the epidemiological measures across the country.
The military personnel will perform their assigned duties according to the timetables and shifts set by individual offices, hospitals and mobile testing units. To support these efforts, essential logistical support is to be provided by the military, including 200 computers and required numbers of mobile phones to trace those infected.
