45 districts to be tested in second round of country-wide testing for COVID-19

The second round of the country-wide testing for COVID-19 will be done differently. Based on the decision of the Central Crisis Management Staff, Slovakia’s districts with positivity rates below 0.7% will be exempt from the testing, including Bratislava and Košice. A total of 45 districts will be tested on 7-8 November 2020.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Given that the pilot testing and the first round of country-wide testing proved to be an effective instrument for mitigating the spread of the virus among people, it is important not to slacken our efforts. We need to stabilise all our regions and we cannot be satisfied with the good situation in some parts of Slovakia. As they say, winning a battle does not necessarily lead to winning the war.” The Minister expressed his understanding and support for all those involved in testing as well as for those getting tested.
