Phase 4 of the mass testing programme for the presence of COVID-19 has today got underway across 458 cities, towns and villages in Slovakia. As at 09:00 on Saturday, test sites were open and operational at 100% capacity. Residents are asked to come forward and get a regular swab test. This is entirely voluntary and for free. They can get tested at any of the 537 test sites, where 541 testing teams are available to carry out COVID-19 testing.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Compared to previous phases of testing, based on Military Aid to Civilian Authority (MACA) requests, this round of testing is primarily targeted at residents of 458 municipalities so that we can follow coronavirus incidence rates in populations of people who live there.” He reminded that testing is voluntary. “Although one’s participation in testing will not mean any special advantage, I hope people will come to the test sites in high numbers. Indeed, it is a unique opportunity for them to check out the state of their health and protect themselves and others,” he added.
The opening hours for the test sites remain unchanged, testing will be underway well until 20:00 tonight.
