Defence and Culture Ministries have several themes of common interest and shared drive to work together more than ever

Today, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď received Culture Minister Natália Milanová at the Ministry of Defence to discuss several themes of common interest. Among them were a potential transfer of the Culture Ministry's scope of responsibilities as the establishing authority of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) Museum to the Defence Ministry, the collaboration of both ministries in utilising the Trenčín Garrison Club for cultural events, and veterans' welfare.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said:“With the Culture Ministry, the Defence Ministry has a lot more common themes than may appear at first sight and I highly appreciate that every conversation with Madam Minister is always to the point and constructive. We want to take Slovakia forward, which is why I'm looking forward to our further cooperation and its results.” He confirmed that the MOD wishes to see the transfer of authority over the SNP Museum from the Culture Ministry to the Defence Ministry. “There's a meaningful intent which will be subject to negotiations at the level of subject matter specialists,” said Culture Minister Natália Milanová.

Another topic of discussion was the utilisation of the Trenčín Garrison Club. Having undergone a full scale of refurbishment, the Club is now is ready to host a variety of events. “Our common goal is to make the refurbished Club facilities a contribution to cultural life in the city and in the region – of course, once the pandemic situation allows. I believe that this investment will help Trenčín City reassert its position as one of the most important centres of cultural development in Slovakia, and we want to help achieve that,” said the head of the MOD.

Minister Naď appreciated Minister Milanová's interest in veterans' welfare under the remit of the MOD, as well as her efforts to forge closer cooperation on supporting them.
