The Ministry of Defence has launched the 20th MOD Drawing and Painting Competition – Soldiers Through the Eyes of Children. It is open to all primary school pupils who, through their entries, want to portray what they feel about the work and life of military professionals, their business as usual tasks, and the Slovak Armed Forces as a whole. The deadline for sending entries is 15 May 2021.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď: “In the past years large numbers of unique, capturing and imaginative drawings and paintings entered the competition and it was quite of a challenge to select the best ones. I believe this year will be no exception. Over the past year, more than ever before, our servicemen and women have been in everyday contact with the public, assisting in the fight against the pandemic. Therefore, I'm convinced that pupils have a lot of stimuli we at the Ministry of Defence are already looking forward to. The way children perceive the work of military professionals and the Armed Forces as such is for us very important.”
The competition is divided into two categories – junior pupils (grades 1 through 5) and senior pupils (grades 6 through 9). A panel of judges, made up of painters, MOD employees and service personnel, will select three best competitive entries in each category.
