Róbert Rusnák appointed Director of Central Military Hospital Ružomberok

Assoc Prof Róbert Rusnák MD PhD, the current head of the Neurosurgery Clinic, has been appointed the acting Director of the Slovak National Uprising Central Military Hospital – Faculty Hospital Ružomberok with effect from 1 June 2021. He has an employment contract for a definite period of time until the Hospital Director is selected in the official recruitment process. Mr Rusnák began his medical career with the Central Military Hospital 25 years ago.

Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Assoc Prof Rusnák is an experienced and renowned medical professional who has worked in the Central Military Hospital for long years and he brings experience from managing the Faculty Hospital. This makes me convinced that the internal processes, management and other related challenges will present no problem for him, on the contrary, he will drive the further development and advancement of our state-of-the-art medical facility, which is rated highly by the patients themselves. In doing so, he can rely on full support from the Ministry of Defence as the hospital's founding authority, and I am looking forward to cooperating with him.”

The head of the MOD thanked the outgoing interim director, Tomáš Sieber MD MPH, who will move on to work in the Ministry of Health. “He took up the challenge of leading the Central Military Hospital with determination after Mr Lengvarský had left the post, and I am grateful for the contribution he has made to the hospital. I sincerely wish him all the best, every success and the right decisions in his next position,” said Mr Naď. 

Assoc Prof Róbert Rusnák MD PhD began his medical career as a doctor in specialty training with the Slovak National Uprising Central Military Hospital – Faculty Hospital Ružomberok in 1996. Since then, he has served as a doctor at the Surgery, Neurosurgery and Traumatology – Orthopedic Surgery Departments. In 2004-2006, he served as the Director of the F. D. Roosevelt Faculty Hospital with Outpatient Clinic in Banská Bystrica. In 2007, he returned to the Central Military Hospital to work as the Chief of Staff of the Neurosurgery Clinic and as Deputy Director of the Central Military Hospital until June 2012 before serving once again as the Chief of Staff and, later on, as the head of the Neurosurgery Clinic.
