Defence Minister attends NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2021, featuring technological innovations in EOD/IEDD and C-IED

Bratislavaʼs Incheba Expo Arena hosted the opening ceremony for the 6th edition of the NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2021, a NATO sponsored event, showcasing Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)/Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal (IEDD) and Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) capabilities.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď and Deputy Chief of Defence Lt Gen Ľubomír Svoboda attended the opening ceremony for the NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2021, with “Technological Innovations Influencing Future EOD and Related Capabilities” as this year's theme.
Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “In the EOD field, Slovakia is a long-respected ally and partner. Our military personnel play an irreplaceable role in this area, which is best evidenced by the fact that Slovakia has been NATO's Lead Nation for EOD since 2004.” Mr Naď noted that the MOD is very much interested in fostering the development of EOD/IEDD solutions and improving C-IED standard operating procedures (SOP).
The head of the MOD praised the international dimension of the event, organised by the NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Centre of Excellence (EOD COE) Slovakia and co-organised by another four COEs from the Czech Republic, Germany, Spain and Turkey.
The NATO EOD Demonstrations and Trials 2021, held on 13-14 October 2021, will present a number of new EOD/IEDD and C-IED technologies and trends. Aside from this, visitors from the ranks of the entire EOD/IEDD community will view live action demonstrations, tour a static display of equipment and devices, and listen to lectures by experts at the theme-based conference.
A total of 36 exhibitors from 17 countries and 270 experts from 28 countries are expected to attend the event.
