DUKLA Military Sports Centre reinforced by SVK athlete Emma Zapletalová

Emma Zapletalová, Slovak Athlete of 2021 and U23 European Champion in the women's 400m hurdles, will start competing in the colours of the DUKLA Military Sports Centre Banská Bystrica.
On joining up as an athlete in DUKLA, Emma Zapletalová said: “I hope the DUKLA Military Sports Centre will give me great conditions for training thanks to which I can prepare well for competitions. In 2022, I will be participating in two top sporting events – the World Championships and the European Championships. I want to prepare myself as best as I can and battle it out for the podium placements.” Emma Zapletalová has already passed the functional tests at the DUKLA Specialist Medical Facility.
Peter Žňava, Emma Zapletalová's coach who is soon to join the ranks of DUKLA in a coaching role, said: “The DUKLA Military Sports Centre is a leading centre for professional sportspeople and coaches. I trust it will help Emma fulfil her goals and dreams. With effect from 1 January 2022, I will start working full time in the Centre. For me, this means focusing my energy and time exclusively on Emma.”
Director of the DUKLA Military Sports Centre Matej Tóth gave a warm welcome to Emma and Peter, saying: “I am delighted to see that our ranks have been reinforced by Slovakia's best athlete of 2021 and our great hope for the future. We will be happy to provide Emma and Peter with the best possible conditions needed to deliver top performances.”
Wishing DUKLA's latest reinforcements the best of health and every success in their careers, Defence Minister Jaroslav Naď said: “Our military sports family is growing to include an ambitious and successful athlete. Of course, I will keep my fingers crossed for her, root for her, and support her as much as I support all the other DUKLA sportsmen and women.”
